Equinix, a global digital infrastructure provider, has announced plans to develop a new data center in Kuala Lumpur to meet rising demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing services in Malaysia.
The facility, located in Cyberjaya near its existing KL1 site, will become Equinix’s fourth data center in the country. The project represents an investment of over USD 190 million and is expected to deliver more than 2,000 cabinets, featuring advanced cooling systems designed for high-density and AI-driven workloads.
According to Equinix, the expansion is part of its broader strategy to strengthen Southeast Asia’s digital ecosystem and enhance Malaysia’s role as a regional hub for interconnection and cloud infrastructure.
The new site will be integrated into Equinix’s global network, enabling improved connectivity between enterprises and cloud service providers while supporting faster and more reliable digital operations.
The company added that growing adoption of AI and hybrid cloud technologies continues to drive demand for scalable data center capacity across Malaysia and the wider region.
